Deseret News, September 11, 1878, 7.

Ed. — Thanks to Bessie from Ancestral Ties for adding a couple of links to provide more context to this article. Here is a post at Amateur Mormon Historian and one at Ancestral Ties, "The First Relief Society Presidency in the Southern States."

  1. This is a neat newspaper article, and I nearly missed it. Was it clipped from the Deseret News? I believe it is the source article for pages 185-188, Life and Ministry of John Morgan. And referred to in these two posts:

There may even be pictures of the sisters called to that first Southern States Relief Society Presidency.

Very interesting, thank you for posting this.

  2. Somehow it is hard to find materials on John Morgan in the newspapers by doing a text search, so when I saw this one while looking for something about the Litsons, I put it up although I didn't have time to do anything else with it.

The note about the first Relief Society was particularly interesting, so thanks for adding the additional context, Bessie. I'll add those links into the text of the post.
